Located in our state's southeastern most corner along the Illinois border, the Kenosha Area is the dream destination for shopping lovers with outlet shopping at Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets. You'll also find an array of specialty shops sprinkled throughout the area, and free train tours at Jelly Belly Visitor Center. On the shores of Lake Michigan, the Harbor Park neighborhood features sprawling parkland, fountains, the Kenosha Public Museum, the Civil War Museum, a lakefront promenade and a residential neighborhood. An authentic electric streetcar winds its way through this area and you can fish along the shore, take in charter boat fishing, and enjoy beaches and marinas. For the history buff, there are four nearby National Register Historic Districts and Kemper Center with Durkee Mansion for you to tour (seasonal). Climb the Southport Lighthouse at the Southport Light Station Museum (seasonal weekends), visit the Kenosha History Center or stop by the Dinosaur Discovery Museum. For indoor recreation fun, visit the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie. Take a ride on the monster slide, splash in the pool, workout in the Fitness Center, play ball in the Field House, or skate around the Ice Arena. In the summer, enjoy the Bristol Renaissance Faire. There is much to see and do in the Kenosha Area throughout the year! For more information about the Kenosha Area, call 1-800-654-7309. |
