| Collection of historic pieces and photographs depicting the labor force in Rock County over the years. Celebrate the American Worker, the exhibit, at the Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center, will open on April 5 and run through December 30. Numerous artifacts and archival materials from the collection will be featured through vignettes, montages and displays. It will include a 1920’s General Store filled with bottles, boxes and potions of the era made by the Willson - Monarch Laboratory of Edgerton, as well as the everyday items such as crockery, foods and clothing that were sold during that period. A desk will be set up to show a 1940’s era secretary’s tools of the trade.
There will be a variety of small and large artifacts from Rock County area businesses incorporated in the exhibit. Items from S & H Mfg., the Pearl Button Factory, the Cotton Mills, Janesville Products and others, along with items used by service workers will be featured. The display will also include the General Motors banner signed by the workers just prior to closing the plant. The long-term exhibits at the Rock County Historical Society of the Parker Pen Room and the Pauline Pottery are also included as we celebrate the American worker.
